June Celebrations Among My Family and Ancestors

When I look at the births and marriages each month I sometimes notice connections and patterns I didn't notice before.  For example, there are two Bessie Gerners born this month.  Bessie Louise, born June 1, is the daughter of John Gerner.  Bessie Leota, born June 17, and John Gerner are sister and brother.  Did John name his daughter after his sister?  And Forrest Albright celebrated his birthday on the same day he married Elizabeth Ann Meinzen.  I suppose that made it easy to remember his anniversary.

The popular dates are the 5th, with three birthdays; the 16th, with two birthdays and a marriage; and the 17th, with three birthdays.

  1. Ever since I entered my ancestors' dates on a calendar, I have also noticed patterns. My favorite is noticing relatives who died on the same day but years apart.

    1. That's interesting observation, Wendy, about relatives dying on the same day years apart. It sent me to RootsMagic to see if there was an option to print death dates by month. Sadly, there's not. There are times when I don't know an ancestor's birth date but I do know the death date and would include them in my monthly list except I'm not thrilled to do the manual search.
One thing I've noticed about death dates is how often ancestors died on or near a holiday. Strange.
