Updated Pennsylvania Death Certificates Now on Ancestry

Hooray!

Ancestry.com has Pennsylvania Death Certificates from 1906-1944.

Now I'm thinking it was very kind of the Pennsylvania Department of Health to return those six requests a week ago!

  1. It was kind, indeed. I need to check my database -- I know I have people in PA, but typically they're very distant relations. Still a death record might come in handy.

    1. I'm like you, Wendy, and don't search so deeply for the more distant relations -- unless I think they might yield the name of a parent or the birthplace of that parent. The PA death certificates are only beginning in 1906, so not so far back.

  2. I don't search so deeply for more distant relations unless they're collateral to one of my direct ancestors and I think they might give the parents' names and/or location of birth of those parents. Or unless I come across something that makes that ancestor particularly interesting....

The PA records only begin with 1906, which is fairly recent, but you might find something helpful, Wendy.
