I'm like you, Wendy, and don't search so deeply for the more distant relations -- unless I think they might yield the name of a parent or the birthplace of that parent. The PA death certificates are only beginning in 1906, so not so far back.
I don't search so deeply for more distant relations unless they're collateral to one of my direct ancestors and I think they might give the parents' names and/or location of birth of those parents. Or unless I come across something that makes that ancestor particularly interesting....
The PA records only begin with 1906, which is fairly recent, but you might find something helpful, Wendy.
