1857 Marriage Record of Andrew Doyle and Jane Barron

My great-great-grandfather, Andrew Doyle, married Jane Barron on September 5, 1857.  They were both of full age, he a bachelor and a miner, she a spinster.  Below is the image from the parish register and a transcription.

Observations and Comments
  • I posted Andrew and Jane's U.K. GRO marriage record a few years ago.  It is uncanny that the civil record and the church record are identical even down to the wording, the information requested, and the placement of the boxes and blank lines.  The only difference is the handwriting.
  • Andrew and Jane both lived on the same street.  I wonder how long they'd known each other.
  • Edward Barron was one of the witnesses.  Could he be Jane's brother or uncle?
  • What was a process for filing the civil record in the 1800s?  Did the groom pick up a paper at the government office, take it with him to the church, fill it out there, and return it to the office?  Or did everyone in the party, bride, groom, witnesses, and minister all go to the government office to fill out the form?
  • I won't research Jane Barron any further since she is not in my direct line.
